Франческо будет верным спутником во всех начинаниях Леонардо, какими бы дерзкими они ни были. Чего только стоит аутопсия трупов животных и человека, многочисленные научные опыты, идущие вразрез церковным канонам… Все это заставит современников задаться вопросом: «Не взял ли на себя молодой гений роль Творца?».Франческо проведет нас по дворцам Милана и Флоренции, в которых Мастер, точно Фауст, будет поглощен поиском истины, в которых он возьмется за многое, но так и не доведет до конца и, в конце концов, где исследователь в Леонардо подавит в нем художника. Авантюризм в науке так и не позволит да Винчи выполнить свой долг перед искусством.

Франческо суждено будет погибнуть смертью Икара. А да Винчи — понести еще одно поражение — потерять друга и веру в свое всемогущество. Мастер поплатится за столь дерзкий вызов Богу, но оставит нам свои многочисленные труды, чтобы в последствии человечество могло идти вперед, опираясь на опыт его поражений и побед.
