War rages in the Caucasus and people from different countries and cultures are caught up in its wrath. Chechen fighters hold two Russian Soldiers anda wounded officer captive in a filthy pit. One day, two new hostages, an English actor and actress, are brought to the pit. The English actor and one of the Soldiers are released to bring back ransom money for the release of the others. The actor persuades the reluctant Soldier with an offer of money to return with him to Chechnya to free the remaining hostages.
