1961 год. Небольшой городок Струнёво, сразу за 101-м километром. В отличие от соседних городов и посёлков, преступления здесь случаются нечасто, а раскрываемость – одна из лучших в СССР. Но, расследуя смерть школьного учителя, оперативник Родион Стоцкий обнаруживает, что Струнёво – это «дом, в котором не гадят», и хозяева в этом доме – блатные и воры в законе, которые после амнистии облюбовали небольшой городок. А большинство грабежей и разбойных нападений в соседних городах и посёлках – скорее всего, как раз дело рук жителей мирного Струнёво.
