The Quarry hotel, Intercontinental Shanghai wonderland hotel resort or 佘山深坑 is a bold work of architectural design, which has been masterfully built directly into the side wall of a quarry decommissioned for over a decade.

It features 2 above ground storeys and 15 storeys that stretch 88 meters below altitude, creating a breath-taking facade.

The design and construction process of the intercontinental shanghai wonderland hotel (quarry hotel) was fraught with many delays prior to 2013. Since 2013, however, the design optimization and onsite construction progressed at a fairly swift pace. The fit-out work carried out in 2017 and finally opened on November 20, 2018.
