Die Schmalfilmaufnahmen von der Seebrücke in Sellin auf Rügen im Jahr 1965 entstanden während des Urlaubes einer Schülergruppe der Karl-Marx-Oberschule Karl-Marx-Stadt, welche im Touristenlager der Schule im benachbarten Baabe untergebracht war.
Die Seebrücke ist das Wahrzeichen des Ostseebades Sellin. Die erste Seebrücke mit Brückenhaus entstand im Jahr 1906. Nach deren Zerstörung durch Eisgang und Brand wurden 1925 eine neue Seebrücke und ein neues Brückenhaus errichtet. Im März 1942 zerstörte starker Eisgang die Seebrücke erneut. Die Plattform mit dem Brückenhaus blieb erhalten.
Das im Film dokumentierte Brückenhaus aus den 1920er Jahren blieb über viele Jahrzehnte das Wahrzeichen von Sellin. 1971 zerstörte eine Sturmflut die Strandpromenade und das Brückenhaus wurde wegen Baufälligkeit gesperrt. 1978 wurden die Reste des Bauwerkes abgerissen.
Ab 1992 errichtete man in mehreren Bauabschnitten eine neue Seebrücke. Der Entwurf für das Brückenhaus orientierte sich an den historischen Vorbildern. 1998 wurde die neue Seebrücke der Öffentlichkeit übergeben.
