На пути было множество приключения, бескрайние пески пустынь Гоби и Такла-Макан, высокогорье Тибета (местами дорога шла выше 5000 м.), древняя Лхаса, тропики Юннаня, опасные дороги Лаоса и лазурные воды Сиамского залива.
